Stornoway is the main port and town and ‘capital’ on the Isle of Lewis (Town population approx 6000).  The town has a wide range of facilities include a technical college,  a golf course, a museum, arts centre, with 3D cinema, theatre and bar, there is a well stocked library and a brand new sports complex (The sports centre's facilities include a 25m pool).  There are a variety of shops and places to eat out. Most of the town's amenities are just a short walk away from the apartment.

Hebridean Celtic Festival

Every year a festival of both traditional and contemporary music come together. Music events takes place all over the island in community centres, pubs and in the streets. Impromtu ceildhs are often to be found in many of the pubs during the day. Main events are in two big marquis in the castle grounds.

Disability access in the main events area  can be booked in advance and it is only a short 10 minute walk from the town centre. There are food stalls, teas and coffees and a bar. People come from all over the world to enjoy the buzz of excitement and entertainment. In most years the Hebcelt Festival is on the second or third week of July.

Seals can be seen in the harbour especially when the fishing boats are in waiting for a share
